Cristiano Ronaldo releases statement after Manchester United sacking.
After being dismissed by Manchester United, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo released a formal statement in which he insisted he still “loved” the club and its fans.
United have moved swiftly to terminate Ronaldo’s contract after the 37-year-old criticised Erik ten Hag and the club’s hierarchy during a two-part interview with Piers Morgan, which aired on TalkTV last week.
Ronaldo claimed that he had no respect for United manager Erik ten Hag and accused the Glazer family of letting standards slip behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
In spite of the fact that Ronaldo’s contract with United still had seven months to run and was earning more than £500,000 a week, it’s believed that the 37-year-old has not received a payout for breaking the terms of the agreement.

Although several teams in Europe, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Chelsea, passed on the chance to recruit him in the summer transfer window, the Portugal international is now free to join a new club after the World Cup.
A statement from Ronaldo on Tuesday read: ‘Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early.
‘I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.
‘I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.’
A statement from United on Ronaldo’s departure read: ‘Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.
‘The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.
‘Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.’
