BTSJin has confirmed a collaboration with Coldplay on his upcoming debut solo single ‘The Astronaut’.

On October 20 at midnight KST, Big Hit Music shared an official poster for the idol’s forthcoming solo release to BTS’ official social media channels. On the poster, it was revealed that Jin’s forthcoming solo debut with the single ‘The Astronaut’ was co-written by both himself and British band Coldplay. The announcement confirms a previous report from MBN

Due out on October 28 at 1pm KST, the forthcoming track will mark the second time the K-pop boyband have joined forces with Coldplay – they last teamed up on the latter’s 2021 song ‘My Universe’.

Big Hit Music also simultaneously shared a preview of the physical copies of ‘The Astronaut’ to the boyband’s Weverse page. In the preview for the lyric card included in the physical album, Kygo and Max Martin were credited as co-producers on ‘The Astronaut’, on top of Coldplay members, including Chris Martin.

The new details about Jin’s debut as a soloist come just days after the singer himself shared plans to release solo material at BTS’ recent ‘Yet To Come’ concert in Busan last weekend (October 15).

As soon as he wraps up promotional activities for ‘The Astronaut’, Jin is due to be the first BTS member to enlist for mandatory military service, per an announcement from Big Hit Music on October 17. It also mentioned that the boyband have plans to reconvene at full strength by 2025.

The recent statement marked the conclusion of several months’ worth of public speculation and debate regarding the possibility of an exemption from military service for BTS. Numerous South Korean political figures publicly debated the pros and cons of granting the boyband exemptions, considering their contributions to South Korea’s economy.

Shortly after Big Hit Music’s statement, the South Korean defence ministry told press that BTS will still be granted the opportunity to take part in “national-level event[s]” while fulfilling their individual military requirements.
